All aboard for railway enthusiasts

For those who love the romance of the railways, opportunity calls: volunteers are needed for the Walhalla Goldfields Railway.

It’s a great gig for anyone interested in outdoor activities, working as part of a team, building friendships, contributing to the community and being a part of living history.

An enormous range of volunteers is needed to ensure the smooth and safe running of the tourist railway.

They are seeking an engine driver or driver assistant. Volunteers also help to maintain engines, carriages and tracks.

Other volunteers staff the stations while railway guard deal with all the hustle and bustle of the platform.

As well as regular training lessons, Walhalla Goldfields Railway has a buddy system to match new volunteers with old hands, while the management team ensures an enjoyable volunteering journey for all.

The next volunteer training day will be held at Thomson Station this Sunday at 10am.
