Hospital donation

The Rotary Club of Drouin has generously donated $7000 to the West Gippsland Hospital.

The maternity unit received $5000 to buy three new recliner chairs for the birthing suites, while the palliative care unit received a $2000 donation to buy new wheelchairs for patients.

Nurse unit manager Caroline Edwards said fathers and support people would be far more comfortable in the new specialist recliner chairs.

“Many hours can be spent by support people in the birthing suites and often they also need a place to rest and recoup in comfort,” she said.

Drouin Rotary Club president Miceal Ambrose said the club was proud to show its support each year.

“We acknowledge the fine work the hospital and staff do on behalf of the community,” he said.

The Rotary Club of Drouin has donated more than $66,000 to the hospital sine 1996.
