Bombers in thriller

Nilma-Darnum and Poowong served up a thrilling match in the Reserves, with the Bombers coming from behind to win by a point, 16-6-66 to 10-5-65.

In an appetiser before the appearance of former AFL stars Russell Robertson and Brodie Holland in the main game, the Bombers came from 19-points down at the final change to steal victory by a point.

John Paul Santo was a key player in the win, booting four goals, while Katlin Sellings was also instrumental in his first game for the club.

Glenn Attenborough and Darren Motton each kicked three goals for Poowong.

In another thrilling finish, Nar Nar Goon stormed home to defeat Warragul Industrials by just five points.

Inaccuracy hurt the home side, which trailed by seven points at the last change despite having more scoring shots.

The Goon kicked four goals to two in the final quarter to win by five points.

In other close matches, Lang Lang scored a two-goal win over Bunyip while Catani held on for an 11-point win over Longwarry.

In other matches, Neerim-Neerim South defeated Koo wee rup by 31points while Ellinbank proved too strong for Nyora.

Garfield could only manage nine behinds as it went down to Cora Lynn.

Stars upset Cobras

Garfield upset Cora Lynn in the under 18s, inflicting the Cobras first loss for the season.

Not only did the Stars win but they won well, 11-7-73 to 6-7-43.

There were no surprises in other results, with Longwarry, Neerim-Neerim South, Bunyip, Ellinbank, Poowong and Nar Nar Goon in the winners circle.

Bunyip’s Thomas Richter and Ellinbank’s Lachlan Pratt both kicked six goals.

Big wins

Under 16 matches were also onesided, with Longwarry, Garfield, Neerim-Neerim South, Ellinbank and Warragul Industrials recording big wins.

Longwarry’s Jedd Serong continued his fine season, booting eight goals, while Tristian Anderson kicked seven goals for Dusties.
