WINNER - Business Person of the Year Award

After successfully managing retail butchers in metropolitan Melbourne, Robert Radford Snr established “Radfords” butchers in Smith Street Warragul and acquired a one-man slaughter house on 5 hectares.

Robert Radford Jnr born to follow in his father’s footsteps, entered his apprenticeship at 17, to become a fully qualified butcher in 1978.

In 1993, Robert was appointed Managing Director and to-date has increased employee numbers to over 100 staff and processes around 80,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep and lambs per year, leading Victoria in meat processing.

Radfords is now at the forefront of organic meat development in Gippsland and Victoria with regional and State-wide significance.

Robert’s commitment to excellence has been acknowledged by numerous business awards, including the My Business national title of Best Regional Business and within the next couple of years went on to win further local, regional, state-wide and national award accolades.

The Radford family has made a significant contribution to the economy of the Baw Baw Shire, their investment in the meat industry has provided additional job security and employment opportunities in the region, their innovative use of technology has developed the site into a showcase of industry standards and sustainable development and Rob Radford’s role in the meat industry peak body has been influential on a State and National basis.
