West Gippsland Orchid Club

A few members braved the cold wintery weather to attend the June meeting.

Guest speaker Terry Poulton gave a comprehensive photographic tour of the Sydney Orchid Show, which was enlightening especially for those who have not attended the Sydney shows.

Though the member count was down, there were quite a number of colourful-benched plants on show for judging and discussion.

As this is the slower time for flowers to appear, it was quite a colourful display.

The next meeting will be held on July 2 at the Scout Hall, Victoria Street in Drouin. The topic for the evening will be 2014 Orchid of the Year presented by Marita Anderson, secretary of OSCOV and a member of West Gippsland Orchid Club.

West Gippsland Orchid Club has welcomed several new members this year and will always welcome interested members of the public who wish to visit the club meetings without obligation to join the club.

The WGOC monthly meeting is the place to meet successful orchid growers who are always willing to share their knowledge.

The judges and guest speakers are also available to give ideas and answers for growing orchids and this is often done at the end of the evening while enjoying supper.
