Food for thought

Costa Georgiadis of Gardening Australia fame delivered some inspiring food for thought at the Eastern Park community garden in Warragul last week.

Costa visited the region to launch the Baw Baw Food Movement initiative.

“A Baw Baw growers market could be held once a month, maybe grow to once a week and perhaps even to a growers market mid-week.

“With fresh produce there is no reason you can’t buy and survive fortnightly. Stored properly it will last that period.”

Costa urged people to support the growers market movement and in turn, local farmers.

“Pay the farmer that extra bit of money, rather than sending it down the road on trucks,” he said.
